About

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to check out my blog. Gushing here allows me to express my passion for running and hopefully be a positive inspiration for others.

I am an elementary school teacher who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada.  I am originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, but moved to NS in July 2006.  I am married and have a beautiful Shih Tzu named Lola, (Who by the way, is a diva!).
Matt and I
Lola thought the big day was all about her.  Such a diva!

Lola on the run! <3

After deciding to make some lifestyle changes in the Fall of 2008, I joined the gym and started out with 20 minutes of treadmill running working my way up slowly.

In January 2009 I met my now husband, Matt, who had just completed his first full Marathon in Miami, FL.  I asked him two questions, 1. "How far is a Marathon?" and 2. "Do you have to be on a team to do that?" LOL.  I grin when I think of that girl now.

I became an avid runner that Winter/Spring and in May 2009 entered my first race, (Bluenose 10km). During that race,  I ran like the wind.  Or so I thought I did, (LOL) and puked all over the finish line when I was done.  Yay me!  Finishing time: 49:32.
Me after finishing 2009 Bluenose 10k.  First race!

I have learned a lot since that race and have developed an even deeper love affair with running. <3

First 1/2 Marathon! June 2009.
My favourite distance is the Full Marathon, 26.2 miles or 42.2 km.  I qualified for the Boston Marathon on my third full in Fredericton, NB in May 2012 with a qualifying time of 3 hours 32 minutes and 52 seconds.  I have completed in a bunch of 1/2 Marathons as well, my way of saying I've lost count. :)

You will find posts about my training, races, food and music @ Girl Goes Running.  :)

You can find out a little more about me in my first ever post right here.  I hope you enjoy my running rambles!

Happy Running,
Heather :)

  4. Hi Heather!

We've recently started linking to race reports so that our users can get a better idea of what certain runs are like. Was reading over a few of your race reports and think that they would be a great fit for our site. Are you okay if we link to them?

Would be a direct link back to your blog on our event pages, you can check out a few examples in the race reports section on:
