Indoor Running to the Max!

I hope you have all had a fabulous weekend out there in Blogland! My weekend zipped by and I ran indoors 3 days in a row. :-0  I don't even know who I am anymore.

I can be creative if I want
My first big event of the weekend was  a physio appointment literally at the time that school let out. My foot is feeling so much better so of course I left PT and headed straight to the gym. I have to admit that I've now gained a fear of running outside in the snow and ice since the fall and ankle roll. I'm really hoping this diminishes.....soon. I also made the decision to hit up the treadmill since my PT wanted me to try a test run on a flat surface. And let's face it, that was NOT happening outside! LOL.
notice how my feet turn in when I lay down? Well apparently most people's turn out and this makes me pre-disposed to ankle rolling..... dem da breaks. ;)

Yes I look like crap, but I just ran 5 pain-free miles and it was glorious!
anyone else get mega hair horns when working out??? LOL
Guess what movie Sam and I saw after ward?!?!?
I had not read any of the books so I had absolutely no expectations for this movie. I really liked that the actors weren't some big shot names because I think that might have been since there was a lot of butts and boobs. :0 (GGR is blushing). And I'm not sure how believable it would have been based on what I heard from the books through my sisters. ;) I liked it none the less, but Sam said she enjoyed the book better just as a heads up.

Hello treadmill my good friend...of course that's sarcasm. I was still too scared of the super high snow banks/ice to head outside, sniff sniff. While I ran on the TM I wondered to myself, am I really running? Can I actually count this as a run? I've always read that the TM obviously isn't the same as running outside, but I wonder how much it really counts. I see so many bloggers and IG friends logging miles regularly on the TM and they're pretty fast, so it can't be bad, right?

Mandatory locker room selfie
Post run I showered super fast and headed over to my good friend Erin's baby shower. We welcomed little Allie to the world and she's totally perfect. :)

Hmm, how can someone be this talented????

Note to self: You may look like a pig if you head straight to a shower post 7 mile run.

Well, the streets were ice rinks and lakes today in my hood, womp womp. And on my training plan: 16 easy miles...yeah right! I knew running outside today would mean I'd crossed the line into insanity, so I debated driving to the gym until just after noonish. Until then I occupied my time making these:

Kudos to Kelly for passing along the Coconut joy! ;)

And then I made pasta salad, just because.

And finally, I ventured in to the Canada Games Centre for some track & tread...because that's just how I roll, lol.

4 track miles...

+ 5 TM miles makes 9 sweaty indoor miles for one day.

Lola says 'Hey' and thanks for stopping by the GGR blog. :) Have a wonderful evening.

Happy Running,
Heather :)
P.S. I'm running the Hypothermic Half Marathon next weekend! How did that creep up so quickly? Are you running it????

  1. I don't blame you for being scared of snow and ice! I am scared of it too and am really picky about running outside if there is wet stuff on the ground. And since I hate the treadmill, that usually means sometimes lifting when I wish I was running. So glad you are running pain free. :) I don't get hair horns but that is because I wear a headband. I can't stand fly aways! I read most of 50 Shades of Grey and it was like literary porn. Although I hear the movie only has 14 minutes of sex in it!? I probably won't go see it but I am not against the movie. I think it is funny how a lot of people are so against it. I actually unfriended someone on FB (not a close friend) because she was warning people not to watch the movie as it would taint their "marital bed". Dang how did I become facebook friends with such a wackjob in the first place!? Haha. Hey I have been thinking about you this weekend because we just binge watched Survivor Africa (from 2001!) and their was a contestant on there named Kelly and omg she reminded me of you sooo much. This is a good pic that catches the resemblance:

    1. Meg, I totally checked to see what Kelly looks like!!! I love when people find a TV person who they think you look like! It so very rarely happens to me... :) If I think back I feel like there are definitely more than 14 minutes of sex in that movie! Some people have very strong views about the movie but I thought it made for a fun night

    2. Well that is good to know because I feel like it SHOULD have more than 14 minutes of sex hehe.

Haha well it took Survivor from 2001, but I found your doppelganger! :)

  2. I read the first 50 Shades book and part of the second one before I abandoned ship. I thought the writing was just awful, which is saying something since I liked Twilight ;) I am curious about the movie though! I want to go see it but no one will go with me! I guess I will have to wait for it to come out of the theaters.

I'm sorry you've been stuck running indoors for 3 days in a row. Come visit Florida soon! :)

    1. Kristina, I would LOVE to come to Florida!

  3. So glad your foot is feeling better...I knew it would!! Great job on getting your runs in..TM and track are much better than ankle rolls! Love your new blackboard...another wicker emporium find?

    1. The blackboard has been down in my guest room for 2 years!!! :)

  4. Glad to hear your ankle is feeling better! Nice work keeping up the running inside. It can be so hard to stay motivated on the treadmill.

Those coconut bars look awesome, I think I'll have to try them.

  5. Sorry to hear about your injury girlie, I'd be traumatized too! Ugh, dreadmill miles are the worst, but now that I don't currently have a gym membership, I'd give anything to at least have the option for the cold, windy days we're having! Those CC bars look delectable! xoxo, ganeeban

  6. Glad you were able to get some miles in. How do you get over the boredom of running around the track so many times? My daughter is going to start cross country in the fall and that's her biggest concern :(

  7. I'm so glad your foot is feeling better! I am sorry you are stuck running inside. I won't tell you what the weather is like here and how I refuse to run on the treadmill because it's so nice outside. ;-) I Feel your pain.

  8. Um... if treadmill running isn't "real" running, then I've never "really" trained for a race. And when the option is a treadmill run or a snow/ice shuffle, I definitely feel like I'm legitimately running on the 'mill.

Anyway. Glad your foot is feeling better and you're getting in the miles!

  9. I think it makes sense to be nervous or scared of running outside after your ankle injury. It's better safe than sorry, especially when you have a BIG race in mind like Boston!!

I love all your running outfits! I want new tanks tops so badly lol.

  10. I have been nervous to run again as well! Injury will do that to you. Hopefully you will get a little melt going soon so you can get outside again. You are doing great inside :)
Your shower plate looks just about perfect to me! Oh and coconut, yes please ;)
